Abstract

In the process of the study it was established that skateboarding in the USSR has appeared at the end of the 70s of the 20th century which was borrowed from America and European countries. Objective of the work: the phenomenon of formation and development of skateboarding in the period of 7090 of the XX century in the countries of former Soviet Union. On the territory of former Soviet Republics the most popular kinds of skateboard were slalom and freestyle, at the same time street was considered to be not a serious one. In the late 80-ies of the XX century there were several centers of skateboarding development, where each had its own leader. In Moscow in 1988 it was held the All-Union conference of skaters, where were discussed many topical issues of development of this kind. The main results of the conference were agreed that all the competitions of «all-union scale» must be carried out according to the rules of the European Skateboarding Association (ESA). The biggest competitions in skateboarding in the Soviet Union took place in 1991 in Saratov. In the race for the Cup of the Union participated over 130 skaters.
