Abstract

In general, women suffer from coronary heart disease at the age of 10 years older than men do. Late beginning of a disease is caused by the influence of estrogens that perform antiatherogenic role before the beginning of a menopause. But during the postmenopausal period the disease incidence among women with coronary artery disease begins to increase sharply, almost catching up with men at the age of 70 years. Therefore, due to the general aging of the population, IBS is the most important cause of death and disability among older women.
