History of Formation and Development of Paralympic Sport in Volyn Region

Abstract

Topicality. Ukraine today stands on the path of comprehensive integration into the European and world community which foresees the development of democratic, humanistic, open bases for the development of all aspects of the socio-political, social, educational, cultural life of the society. In the period of restoration of its independence, Ukraine became a full member of the family of Paralympic states.

Ukrainiandisabled athletes participate and perform successfully in the big competitions in Paralympic sport system – the Paralympics. According to the leaders of international sport, Ukraine today is one of the leaders of the development of the Paralympic movement. At the same time, the active development of the Paralympic movement in Ukraine has not been reflected in scientific research. Volynparalympic athletes made a big contribution to the victory of the Ukrainian national team at international competitions of various ranks. Studying the history of development and becoming of Paralympic sports in Volyn is a matter of topical interest.

Tasks of the study: study the formation and development of the sports movement in Volyn and the performance of athletes with disabilities in the Paralympic Games.

Methods of the investigation: historical and pedagogical analysis of archival documents and records, the analysis of self-control diaries, questioning of coaches and athletes, sport organizations reports.

Results of the study testify about the development andbecoming of Paralympic sport in the Volyn region, asthe athletes for twenty-four years have achieved great successes in sports at all-Ukrainian and international competitions. Paralympic athletes glorified the region and our state at the championships of Europe, the World and Paralympic Games, and their names entered the history of the development of certain sports.
